Stage on Screen DVDs of classic theatre plays – about us

Stage on Screen was formed in 2009 by Richard Adams, Phil Rees and Peter Eyles to produce classic stage drama and record live performances for theatre fans, lecturers, students and teachers who otherwise would not get to see these important works. All three of us are keen theatregoers, with backgrounds in film and television, education and publishing.

The plays are directed, designed and performed by hugely talented people with lists of credits from such august organisations as The National Theatre, The Globe, RSC etc, and of course film and television .

We record the shows live in front of an audience, using a High Definition Outside Broadcast Unit typically comprising 6-8 cameras and a 48 track audio facility.

The Outside Broadcasts have been directed to date by the highly regarded, award winning ex-BBC director Chris Cowey, pictured left during the live mix of Volpone (along with Wayne Dowdeswell, stage lighting designer).

Our DVDs are high production value, broadcast standard recordings that we believe are as enjoyable and rewarding to watch as they are challenging and rewarding to produce.
