About Us

Stage on Screen was formed in 2009 by Richard Adams, Phil Rees and Peter Eyles to produce classic stage drama and record live performances for theatre lovers, students, teachers and lecturers who otherwise would not get to see these important works, or would like to own a recording of the performance for future reference. All three are keen theatre goers, with backgrounds in film and television, education and publishing and we realised that in a world of new media there was no access to these great plays apart from the occasional live performance. Stage on Screen is providing that access.

The plays are directed, designed and performed by highly talented, experienced theatre professionals  with lists of credits from major companies such as The National Theatre, The Globe, RSC  etc., and of course the worlds of film and television.

The shows are recorded live at Greenwich Theatre in London with the audience present, aiming to give the DVD viewer the same theatrical experience as the audience members. A High Definition Outside Broadcast Unit is used, typically comprising 6-8 cameras and 48 track audio facility. The Outside Broadcasts have been directed to date by the award winning ex BBC director Chris Cowey, whose expertise in multi camera live shows is much sought after in the world of television. For further details on our production process, please go to How We Do It

The DVDs are high production value, broadcast standard recordings that are as enjoyable and rewarding to watch as they are challenging and exciting to produce.
